Outdoor Formats

Over the past decade, the shape and form of the outdoor medium has changed. Previously 'Outdoor' advertising was associated with Billboards, but now encompasses a wide range of 'out-of-home' formats to reach consumers where they live, work, play drive, shop and commute.

Outdoor Products come in number of poster sizes, formats and other configurations that suit many different Outdoor advertising opportunities. You can use outdoor to broadcast your message, for example through large format billboards, or to target a specific audience, such as shoppers and travelers.

More than 95 per cent of revenue generated from outdoor advertising is covered by one of the following formats.

24 Sheet Posters

More Outdoor campaigns are placed on 24 Sheet Posters, the traditional 'Billboard', than any other form of Outdoor.

At 6.0m x 3.0m, the 24 Sheet Poster can be found in both city and regional markets. City sites include major and secondary arterial roads, most railway stations and suburban commercial areas. In rural markets, sites include highways and key locations within built-up areas.

With the large number of sites to select from, 24 Sheet Posters provide mass and target market opportunities. Whether a national or 'by market' buy, 24 Sheet Posters can deliver brand reach and frequency to both commuter and localised markets, such as key shopping areas or demographic groups. Many sites are illuminated.

24 Sheet Poster packages can be designed to meet most advertising strategies and budget levels.

6 Sheet Posters, a scaled down 24 Sheet Poster at 3.0m x 1.5m, are also available in some markets.

Production Notes

Generally, copy requirements are screen printed in full colour on paper. For short run, or one off signs, computer generated woven polyester panels, or 'skins', provide outstanding reproduction and flexibility along with traditional sign writing options.

Spare posters should be allowed for to cover any maintenance requirements or additional opportunities.

Airport Terminal

Located internally in the high traffic areas at both domestic and international terminals in all major airports around Australia.

With sites located in main concourses, check-in, baggage claim and near departure lounges, Airport Advertising reaches business travelers and the international and domestic visitors markets.

Four standard size panels, each internally illuminated, are available:-
1.0m x 1.5m, 1.2m x 3.0m, 1.2m x 1.3.65m, 1.8m x 1.8m, 1.8m x 5.5m and 1.8m x 8.3m.

Also, free standing product floor displays can be used (6m x 3m x 2.0m).

Buses

Bus advertising is part of the city and urban environment and is available in all capital cities and some major regional centres. A combination of mobility and visual impact reaches pedestrians, drivers and vehicle passengers.

Bus advertising offers options of side and rear panels through to fully painted buses.

Bus Shelters

Integrated shelter with either a single or double-sided 1.8m x 1.2m or 1.5m x 1.0m size poster.

In many circumstances poster displays are internally illuminated.

A combination of flexible media buys by market and by duration allows specific targeting, through to extension of other Outdoor and mainstream advertising. Rotational or fixed site packages along with regular copy changes allow advertisers to customise their advertising.

Ideally suited for all advertisers from national brands to local businesses.

Mobile Billboards

Generally 6.0m x 3.0m posters (24 Sheet size) applied to small trucks and other carriers for two-sided displays. Available in all major markets.

Shopping Centres

Illuminated panels in the shopping centre - generally 1010mm x 1510mm in size.

Panels are sold in demographic packs on a state or national basis allowing demographic targeting of key consumer groups but can also be purchased geographically to strategically target shoppers in individual shopping centres.

Builds reach in association with mainstream media and is ideal for advertisers for whom recency of message is an integral part of the brand marketing mix.

Spectaculars

Any poster display over 50 square metres is classified as a Spectacular.

Many are a giant 15.0m x 4.5m or bigger - some sites exceed 400 square metres. Maximum visibility and impact is realised through their dominant size and the ability to customise the layout with cut-outs and extensions.

These giant, illuminated advertising poster displays stand out on key highway and inner city locations.

Production Notes

Spectaculars are printed on heavy white background vinyl. Quality and image content of the creative will influence production options. Such options include:

  • Computer generated graphic illustration
  • Self adhesive vinyl
  • Neon
  • Hand Paintings
  • Cut-outs and extensions
  • 3D effect

Supersites

Big and bold - the largest industry standard size Outdoor poster display is the Supersite.

At 12.66m x 3.35m, each Supersite delivers 42 square meters of branding power and are located on national highways and major urban arterial routes.

All Supersites are illuminated from dusk to specified times. Some are backlit.

Supersites can be purchased nationally or by specific market - and available as individual sites or as part of a campaign.

As a standard size display, Supersite panels can be rotated from site to site. This allows advertisers the flexibility to be seen in a variety of locations as well as the option to display different messages - achieving greater market reach and a tactical presence.

Production Notes

Supersite displays are produced on flexible faces of woven polyester 'skins' through the use of the latest computer generated technology. These skins can be rolled up for ease of transfer to new sites or stored ready for the next media bookings

Taxi

Taxi Advertising is an established and popular component of Outdoor and is available nationally in capital cities and some regional markets.

Taxis deliver mobility and impact 24 hours a day that drivers and pedestrians cannot miss. A 800mm x 400mm panel provides a simple yet effective poster device enabling a mix of different copy messages across the taxi fleet and a flexibility of quick copy changes.

Tram

Tram advertising is a favourite vehicle in Melbourne for advertising in both CBD and key suburban areas. Advertising options include side panels through to fully painted trams.
