Membership Application

Active Membership of the Association is available in three categories.

Active Membership of the Association is available from June 2006, only in accordance with Clause 5 of the Constitution of the Association, which states:

5 Qualifications for membership

  • The classes of members and the qualifications for membership of each class are as follows:
    • Media Display members: being members who are engaged in the business of media display of outdoor advertising. Media Display members are voting members.
    • Non Media Display Members: being members who are engaged in associated activities in support of, or ancillary to, the activities of Media Display Members. Non Media Display Members are not voting members. This membership category may include installers of outdoor advertising equipment and structures, suppliers of goods and services to members including print and production facilities, and other persons or corporations who support the objects of the Association to an extent determined by the Board of Management. Honorary members (Life and Term Honorary Members) are included in this category of membership.
    • Asset Holder members: Asset Holders who carry on business as landlords, lessors, contractors and similar activities to facilitate the activities of Media Display Members. Asset Holder Members are not voting members.
  • The classes of members and qualification for membership within each class may be altered, varied or amended by resolution of the Board of Management.

It is in the interests of any potential new applicant for membership to contact the Chief Executive Officer to discuss the membership application process and to obtain assistance in completing the application form. The Association will not accept any payments prior to approval of the application.

Membership Benefits

Being a member of the OMA can benefit your business as we:

  • Provide input into regulations affecting the medium.

    The OMA works with Government at State and Local levels to represent its members’ and the industry’s interest with regard to regulations effecting the Medium. We provide ongoing input into the preparation of building codes and work place Health and Safety issues. We also work with Main Road organizations on issues relating to Outdoor Advertising.

  • Working toward an outdoor audience measurement solution.

  • Provide members with consolidated Outdoor expenditure reports monthly - to supply meaningful information on the ‘health’ of the outdoor industry.

  • Conduct industry research

    Our members can access commissioned research on issues such as Outdoor and road safety and public attitudes towards Outdoor advertising.

  • Provide marketing support

    All members are equipped with tools to promote the effectiveness of out-of-home advertising, resulting from industry-wide promotional campaigns and research initiatives.

  • Liaise with key stakeholders

    The OMA acts as a liaison point with the Advertising Standards Board, the Advertising Federation and the Australian Association of National Advertisers to ensure our members are kept up to date with the legal and social issues effecting outdoor.

    The Outdoor Marketing Group also maintains contact with trade media.

  • Sponsorship

    We Coordinate, on behalf of the industry, public service campaigns such as Keep Australia Beautiful, Landcare, and many charity campaigns such as the Salvation Army, the Blind Society, the Heart Foundation and the MS Society.

  • Information

    We provide a comprehensive information service for a wide range of parties from clients and their creative agencies to Local Government Councils, students and the public. In addition to this we provide educational information to related courses from Communications/Marketing degrees to Town Planning studies. Hopefully ensuring that those who play a role in the future of the industry are as well informed as possible.

Finally we liaise with Overseas Associations to provide information to our members about new products and technology available or being developed with the intention to help them maximize their business' opportunities.
